What did I do this year?

Inspired by Enrico’s short recap, here’s what I did over the last 12 months (with a little help from my Facebook timeline):

January: Partied hard in Reykjavík, went back to New York, partied harder, then started school—what would turn out to be the best semester of my college experience in terms of learning.

February: Oscars, Gay rights stuff and Pretty Little Liars. It was probably cold out. Discovered Austra.

March: Brian shaved my head. Moved to Meserole St., met Merve.

April: Drank beer, crazy school work finishing up. More beer.

May: My Graphic Design Juniors Show, saw Austra live. The Long Island retreat at Deanna’s place.

June: Went back to Iceland, got kicked out of Meserole, went back to work at FRISK.

July: Went to Helluland for a weekend, the farm I worked at as a kid. Milked some cows, took care of some children and buried a dead hen. Then went to Italy, ate paste/pizze, said ciao a lot, designed type and puked my guts out.

August: Deanna came to Iceland and we saw waterfalls and drunk people, ate Awesomebits (Æðibitar) and fish, and we went to Gay Pride and Flúðir. I did graphic design for the queer art event Bakdyramegin (Through the Back Door). Went back to New York, stayed with Brian. Moved in with Deanna along with Merve. Irene. Fall semester started, hopefully the worst semester (spring better not be anything like it).

September: Designed my first issue all by myself of W27 Newspaper as art director. Edda and Kata came to New York, we saw Beirut live. Brian and I broke up. Crying.

October: My brother Ægir and his boyfriend Daníel came over. School, W27, school, thesis, school, crazy cray cray. Fortunately: Distracted from crying.

November: So much homework, so little beer. Guggenheim, MoMA, Trust and Balam Acab live.

December: Thesis, POSH at the Plaza, barely designed design, Fornino’s pizza. Then: Iceland, friends, family, goulash, spaghetti, christmas tree, duck, smoked ham, roast pork, Eldsmiðjan pizza, clam/salmon soup, cod, alchohol and today, a turkey.

Happy new year everyone!
